“Mental health is not a destination, but a process. It's about how you drive, not where you're going."

- Noam Shpancer

I am a qualified Counselling Psychologist, registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as well as with the Board of Health Care Funders (BHF). I obtained my MA Counselling Psychology degree at the Pearson institute, through their full-time two-year intensive practical training program.

Having completed my internship year, I have built-up experience in private practice dealing with individuals, couples and business professionals. I run a private practice in Parktown North and offer services to companies and corporates. I work with adults in both individual and couples therapy, as well as business professionals facing career or workplace challenges.

Healing isn't linear. There is no particular timeline or way your healing journey is "supposed" to look. This is your individual journey and there may be ups and downs along the way. The important thing is to keep on the journey and you will find your healing path. Individual therapy can be defined in countless ways; however, the basis of the collaborative therapeutic process aims to facilitate change and improve quality of life.  Therapy can also serve to enhance positive emotions, identify and nurture character strengths, and increase self-confidence.

My practice methodology is to consider things  from an integrative perspective, utilising numerous frameworks as appropriate to meet the needs of patients on an individual level. This interactional framework offers understanding and awareness of patterns of communication that the individual has developed in context, while the psychodynamic perspective is beneficial when developing deeper insight into emotional functioning. I am familiar with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and various other modalities, using them when necessary to alleviate anxiety and assist with distress. This flexible approach allows me to aid the client in the most appropriate way and thus work with the client to meet their individual needs.

Whatever brings the client into therapy, I strive toward creating a professional, non-judgemental relationship and space where the client feels understood and secure in both pursuing their therapy goals and discussing their reservations.
